Our summer retreat programs are underway, and guests are also enjoying personalized retreats and sabbaticals.
Other Queenswood news:
Our facility renewal continues, as we are readying Queenswood to welcome a small group of new residents in the fall, particularly faculty and students in social work, nursing, education, counselling or other helping professions. If you are a student or faculty member interested in applying for residence, please click here.
Community update gathering: Our new strategic plan is being put into action, and we know that many of you are interested in hearing more about all that is happening this summer, and what is being planned for the fall. We’d like to invite all of our Queenswood staff, volunteers, neighbours and community supporters to join us for a special gathering August 20 from 2-4 pm to hear a brief update on our journey. The highlight of this gathering will be to hear a report from Seth Wright, a UVic Environmental Studies student who has been working with us this summer. Seth will share some of his research and suggestions on how we will make Queenswood more “green” in the months to come. All are welcome; please drop in to join us in the Marguerite Lounge from 2-4 p.m.
New librarian position open at Queenswood: Denise, our current Librarian, is interested in shortening her hours, and would like to share her librarian position. This would be an ideal part-time job for a retired or semi-retired librarian who would enjoy the meaningful work and personal encounters of this job. Please check our job opportunities page for more information.
Program planning for the fall: we have been working very hard to put together a terrific program line-up for this coming fall within the context of our new Strategic Plan. Specific programs and dates will be released shortly, both in a new program guide and online.
IVY-PULL PARTY- Thursday August 21. Please wear a hat, boots, gloves, and bring secateurs if you have them! Lunch included—please let us know ahead of time if you plan to come. For more info contact Seth at sethus [at] graffiti.net (please replace " [at] " with @).
On behalf of the Queenswood Board, I am pleased to welcome Mr. Stefan Jonsson in the new position of Programs and Marketing Coordinator.
According to the new staffing plan approved by the Board in March 2008, the Programs and Marketing Coordinator will assist me in planning our programs and marketing, coordinating the day-to-day coordination of Queenswood programs, and enacting the new marketing plan which will allow us to achieve our goal of financial self-sustainability.
